The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts the heat will peak from Wednesday through the weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Extreme Temperatures Forecasted to Scorch the US<\/h2>\n<p>In <strong>Los Angeles<\/strong>, temperatures are projected to approach <strong>100\u00b0F (37.7\u00b0C)<\/strong>, with <strong>inland areas<\/strong> nearing <strong>110\u00b0F (43.3\u00b0C)<\/strong> or even higher. The <strong>NWS warned<\/strong> of <strong>\u201cdangerously hot conditions\u201d<\/strong> with temperatures ranging from <strong>95\u00b0F to 110\u00b0F (35\u00b0C to 43\u00b0C)<\/strong>, particularly on <strong>Thursday and Friday<\/strong>. Several cities experienced <strong>extended periods of temperatures above 100\u00b0F (38\u00b0C)<\/strong>, and many broke long-standing records during <strong>July\u2019s intense heatwave<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The situation has been similarly dire in other southwestern states. <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong> endured its <strong>hottest July on record<\/strong>, including a <strong>record-breaking 120\u00b0F (48.8\u00b0C)<\/strong> day. <strong>Phoenix, Arizona<\/strong>, marked its <strong>100th consecutive day of temperatures above 100\u00b0F (38\u00b0C)<\/strong> on Monday, surpassing a previous streak from the 1990s.<\/p>\n<h3>Fire Risk Grows as Heat Intensifies<\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>extreme heat<\/strong>, combined with <strong>abundant dry vegetation<\/strong> left by a wet winter, has created <strong>ideal conditions for wildfires<\/strong>.
